Sleep was a luxury I knew I wouldn’t have much of, at least for a while. I picked out a baby monitor with video and audio capabilities to ease my nerves. I wanted to be able to keep an eye on my baby without having to hover over the crib. This monitor has a sleek, minimalist design, and the video quality is crystal-clear, even in low light. It came with two-way audio, so I could soothe my baby with voice when needed. Peace of mind, she thought, was priceless.
Swaddle Blankets
I had heard that swaddling was key to helping newborns feel secure and sleep better. I picked up a set of soft, breathable swaddle blankets. They were made from organic cotton and are gentle on sensitive skin. I practiced wrapping the swaddle around a stuffed animal to get the technique right.
Crib and Mattress
The nursery was one of the first things I started working on. I chose a simple crib with adjustable height settings so it could grow with the baby. The mattress was firm but soft enough for comfort. The best Gift and something that I will forever cherish was a Post C-section Care kit that was given to me after the birth of my baby. In those times when hormones are at their peak & everyone is concentrated on the baby, that kit made me feel seen, and to this day, I consider it the best pregnancy gift I have received.
Baby Clothes & Newborn Essentials
I had already received plenty of cute baby clothes, but I needed a few key pieces to complete my baby's wardrobe: soft onesies, tiny socks, and hats to keep the little one cozy during those early days.
I carefully chose gentle, machine-washable clothes made from organic cotton, which would be soft enough for her baby’s delicate skin. I also picked up some mittens to prevent my baby from scratching their face, a soft baby hat, and a few swaddling sleepers.
As I folded the tiny clothes and placed them in the baby’s dresser, I couldn't help but smile. Soon, these little garments would be worn by the precious baby she'd been dreaming of for months.
